You don't need an expensive setup to code well. But a few upgrades make long sessions far more comfortable. Here they are, in the order I'd buy them.
1. A second monitor
Code on one screen, docs or the browser on the other. This is the single biggest productivity upgrade for most developers. A 24-inch 1080p or 27-inch 1440p IPS panel is the sweet spot.
Look for IPS, at least 24 inches, and a height-adjustable stand.

You type all day. A mechanical or low-profile keyboard with good key feel reduces fatigue.
Tenkeyless layout saves desk space and keeps your mouse closer.

Raises the screen to eye level and saves your neck. Pair it with an external keyboard.
Aluminium, adjustable height, foldable for travel.

Essential if you share your space with family or work from cafés.
Active noise cancelling and a comfortable fit for long sessions.

A monitor light bar reduces eye strain at night without glare on the screen.
